TCPReset Privacy Policy

Scope and principles
TCPReset operates public Usenet, Mail-to-News, mail and related monitoring services. We minimize collection, retention and correlation of personal and technical data. The infrastructure is designed to reduce unnecessary identification and exposure to indiscriminate surveillance. These measures reduce linkability, but cannot guarantee absolute anonymity or prevent lawful requests made under applicable law.
TCPReset does not censor users solely because of their opinions. Opposition to censorship does not mean tolerating the distribution of pornographic material, child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors. This principle also does not protect harassment, cyberbullying, threats, unlawful content, unsolicited advertising, commercial promotion, spam or technical abuse.
Website
news.tcpreset.net does not use analytics, advertising, tracking cookies or third-party tracking resources. HTTP access logging is disabled. Apache stores only warning and error messages in an IP-free format for no more than seven days. Public status pages contain aggregate operational information and do not intentionally expose reader addresses or posting identities.
Usenet service
Usenet articles are public and may be propagated to independently operated servers worldwide. TCPReset cannot remove copies already distributed to other servers or archives. Article content and headers intentionally supplied for publication, including From, Subject, Newsgroups, the body and any retained User-Agent, become public.
Routine reader connections and group-browsing activity are not retained. INN reader tracking is disabled. Posting-host and posting-account information is pseudonymized. X-Trace, mail-routing headers and X-No-Archive are removed, while a supplied Sender is retained and becomes public, and Path: not-for-mail is used where applicable. Warning, error and peer-delivery information remains in short rotating operational logs.
The general article expiry policy currently uses a 30-day minimum, 90-day default and 120-day maximum. Control articles normally expire after seven days and junk articles after one day.
Anti-abuse processing
Cleanfeed-NG, Postfilter-NG and NoCeM protect the service from spam and abuse. Cleanfeed-NG evaluates incoming articles. Postfilter-NG applies posting policy and currently operates in audit mode. Abuse-relevant Postfilter records use encrypted identity storage, are excluded from public reports and are retained for no more than 30 days.
NoCeM verifies signed notices from explicitly trusted issuers. Temporary cancellation backups are retained for no more than 14 days. SpamAssassin remains a limited internal scoring observer, but does not archive article bodies or Message-IDs. Its operational logs are retained for seven days.
Necessary technical indicators may be checked against external domain, URL or address reputation services. The optional external Tor-classification lookup is disabled.
Mail-to-News
Mail-to-News converts email into a public Usenet article. Before publication it removes delivery, routing, authentication and signature headers, including Received, Return-Path, Delivered-To, X-Trace and X-No-Archive. A supplied Sender is retained and becomes public. It generates a new Message-ID, sets Path: not-for-mail and uses a privacy-preserving internal delivery path.
A normal From address may become public. The _nospam address format obfuscates it before publication. Queued messages are normally retained for no more than one hour, duplicate-detection hashes for 24 hours, and warning or error logs for seven days.
Mail service
Mailboxes remain stored until deleted by the account holder or administrator. Junk and Trash folders are automatically purged after 30 days. Account records may include an email address, password hash, quota, aliases and vacation-message configuration. Plaintext passwords are not stored.
SMTP and authentication logs may contain IP addresses, account names, envelope addresses and Message-IDs. These records are retained for up to 14 days because they are necessary for spam prevention, blacklist investigation, service protection and incident response. Rspamd logs are retained for four days. Its local history expires after seven days, stores subjects in an obfuscated form and is available only through loopback interfaces. An Onion transport endpoint is available as a privacy-preserving alternative.
System logs and recovery copies
The system journal stores only warning and error events and is limited to seven days and one gigabyte. Temporary recovery snapshots or upgrade backups may contain an earlier system state, including data later removed from the live service. They are not used for routine analysis and are removed when their documented recovery window ends.
Disclosure and international propagation
Public Usenet articles are intentionally distributed to independent peers in multiple jurisdictions. Operational data is otherwise disclosed only where necessary to hosting providers, technical reputation services, infrastructure operators or competent authorities acting under applicable law. TCPReset can disclose only information that it actually retains.
User rights and contact
Where applicable, users may request access, correction, restriction or deletion of personal data retained directly by TCPReset. Deletion cannot recall Usenet articles already propagated to independent servers. Requests must provide enough information to locate the relevant local data without requiring broader identity collection.
